Current Projects
Adelante Soil Co.
On their collective family landholding, the Martinez brothers lead efforts to improve “life within the soil and everything that engages with it.” They focus on ecosystem health through intentional management of water, soil health, planting, and re-establishment of native plants.
State Healthy Soils Map
In collaboration with Nerds for Earth, the State Soil Health Policy Map was developed to share information on state-level soil health policy.
Restore and Regenerate California
The Restore and Regenerate California project assists with the implementation of Governor Newsom’s 2020 Executive Order N-82-20 to incorporate nature-based climate solutions and scale climate-smart land management.
The Carbon Project
The Carbon Project supports communities, agricultural producers, and individual leaders in practice, science, and advocacy to further the adoption of soil health practices and the creation of high-quality compost.
Community Composting
Compost is essential for community and school farms and gardens but has largely been overlooked in climate change conversations, policies, and philanthropic programs. PFL supports the California Alliance for Community Composting in equitable fund distribution to over 110 community compost sites.
